About Greypath Chat and our Forums

Chat

  1. Your greypath username, will be picked up by the website and used automatically across the site, including chat.

  2. You can only have one username at a time, but can, if you wish to change it [or your password or email address or more], click on My Account in the grey panel below the log in box on the homepage of greypath.
  3. When you click on the chat image, (Megs Coffee Shop), and go to chat, you will see a column on the right hand side that will contain a small figure and your username, as well as that of anyone else who is still in the chat room. In my case (see image below) my username is rlewis and I am here alone

4. At the bottom of the page is the working part of the chat room. You can see, (image below), the text panel, and I’ve typed in the words… Test post with smiley added, and added a happy smiley. (See the :> sign at the end of the post). I just clicked on the third smiley face along from the start on the right hand side and it was added to the text line wherever I left the cursor.

The “ :>” sign just lets us know that a smiley has been added OK, and will change to the actual smiley when we click on send, (you can also click on your enter key), and our message goes to the chat panel.

5. We have lots of other options in chat as well. If you pass the cursor over the various icons, (small images etc such as the yellow box or the B in a box), a small pop up will tell you what happens when you have typed in some text and then clicked/selected any of them. They help make your message cleared and can add colour etc

6. Also if you find the chat room crowded and/or want to talk with someone privately (say JudyK) , you can select (click) on their icon /username from the right hand side panel, and a special room, just for the two of you, will come up. (You can click back and forwards to the Megs as you wish)

No-one else but you two, will be able to see this room, or know that it has been activated.

If someone else also clicks on JudyK, they can talk privately in a two person room as well, and you will not know of this unless either tells you

7. If you come to chat for the first time, a handy opening line is “Hi I’m new here. Where are you from?

We hope the above helps you to get going, and that you enjoy the experience…
